Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a condition that affects social interaction and functional communication. There are also limitations in behaviour, interests and choice of activities. ASD in turn affects the child’s way of thinking, relating and communicating with others.
Children with ASD often have different cognition, different ways of thinking, understanding and learning. There are also difficulties in understanding social contexts and the ability to generalise acquired or learned skills.
Other neuropsychiatric difficulties such as ADHD or ADD have noticeable symptoms in the child. ADHD is characterised by a persistent pattern of inattention and/or hyperactivity, as well as limitations in impulse control, which affects social, academic and developmental functioning.
This is why those who have contact with this group of children require knowledge and training to give them the tools to counteract the difficulties that impede their development.
Segment
Adults in the environment of children with these characteristics require systematic, intensive, special and specific support in order to be able to face, stimulate and develop them to the maximally.
That is why Easy Learning’s advice is aimed at parents, family members, teachers, school principals and others.
Easy Learning is dedicated to the training of parents and teachers who are in frequent contact with children.
In addition, our lectures and workshop are presented both individually and in groups.
In recent years it has been shown that group work has a good effect, which has been demonstrated in research as well as in clinical activity. This is because parents or teachers can share their experiences with the other participants. Regardless of the type of functional disability that has prompted them to contact us.
Types of counselling
Any kind of neuropsychiatric disability impairs and limits the quality of life and development of a child. Often the parent, teacher or close relative lacks the necessary knowledge that can provide opportunities for a favourable development and specific support for the difficulties presented by the child. These tools and opportunities should be planned on the basis of the child’s current skill level and should be focused on the specific difficulties of each individual.
This is why the counselling provided by Easy Learning is tailored to the needs of each individual.
In individual counselling you will have the opportunity to receive advice and guidance, focused on the problem your child presents. With this information, an analysis is carried out in order to create and adapt an individual programme, which is completely adapted to the needs of the child and his or her family.
The advantage of Easy Learning’s group counselling is that you can discuss a specific topic together. In this opportunity, the participants are given the possibility to share their experiences, linked to the complexity of the subject matter.
Easy Learning is careful that the group size does not exceed 6 people. This facilitates the participation of all participants. The group meets 3 times, so that the topics and tools used in practice can be discussed in greater depth after each session. In each group counselling, ideas and techniques to be implemented are given. These are evaluated and reflected upon in session 2. To conclude in session 3, with an overall summary of the result presented by the child as a consequence of the techniques implemented.
Some examples of group counselling can be oriented towards communication problems, behavioural problems, selective feeding, sleep problems, etc.Having a wide range of issues, it is necessary to divide the groups, in order to organise them, to be able to focus on the challenges that arise in relation to the context, i.e. home, school, extra-curricular activities. Because each group requires different types of help, as children often have different conditions.
Methodological counselling focuses on helping groups of staff to improve and address more concretely the needs of the child. This is based on the creation of specific short and long term objectives, which are developed to overcome the challenges presented.
